The Effingham Daily News in central Illinois seeks a sports editor to oversee a section that consistently ranks among the best in the state. We'll maintain that excellence with our next hire for this key position. We cover 16 high schools – one took home the Illinois high school basketball championship trophy this year and another won the state baseball championship.

This fast-paced job requires top-notch writing, editing, photography, video, and organizational skills. You'll cover games and write features and columns, and also oversee the work of a sports reporter. At least two years experience covering high school sports for a daily newspaper preferred. Editing experience a plus. Although page design is not part of your duties, familiarity with InDesign helps. Good driving record necessary.

Send at least six clips, resume, and a cover letter explaining why you are the person to lead our sports team. Clips should highlight a variety of sports and include game stories, features and columns.
