Sports Editor - Douglas County (Ga.) Sentinel

Discussion in 'Journalism Jobs' started by rico_the_redneck, Dec 22, 2014.

  1. We've got an opening for a sports editor in the Atlanta suburbs. This is a one-man show. We have five high schools that make up the bulk of the coverage. Pay is high $2os. The current SE was just hired for a design/writer job in Hawaii and leaves in two weeks. Would love to move fast on this with the right candidate. Message me with any questions.

The Douglas County Sentinel, an award-winning paper located in Douglasville 20 miles west of Atlanta, has an immediate opening for a full-time sports editor.

The position’s duties include, but are not limited to, covering high school and community sports and taking all photographs for the sports section. The position also requires updating the paper’s website, maintaining a presence on social media and managing a staff of stringers to maximize our coverage of local sports.

The ideal candidate will also be proficient in AP style and have a track record of writing compelling game stories, features and enterprise stories. Pagination skills are not a requirement of the job as all layout is done at a central design hub.

The Sentinel publishes three times a week. We offer a solid benefits package with health/life/dental, 401k, vacation, etc. Please email cover letter, resume and three writing samples to Ron Daniel at jobs@douglascountysentinel.com.
