    The Danville Advocate Messenger, a daily newspaper in Danville, KY, is seeking a Sports Editor to join our talented staff.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, editing and assigning stories for our sports staff to publish in the newspaper and related sports products, along with publishing and maintaining our sports web sites. They will also establish an overall philosophy for all sports coverage.
    We’re seeking someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field (or equivalent experience), along with a solid knowledge of AP style and copy editing experience. Experience with InCopy and InDesign software, and 3-5 years of management experience in a newsroom setting, are also preferred.
    Essential Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to manage others
    • Ability to plan stories and give the department direction
    • Expertise with AP style and knowledge of the English language, grammar
    • Communicate mainly by phone and e-mail professionally with coaches, athletes and parents of athletes
    • Skilled in InCopy and InDesign software
    • Knowledge of digital software
