The Daily Ardmoreite, a six-day daily, is southern Oklahoma's premier newspaper with a Sunday circulation of 12,000 and a daily circulation of 9,000. We're looking for a top-flight sports editor who is committed to covering local sports and athletes while giving our readers balanced coverage of college and professional sports. The ideal candidate will produce sharp, inviting sports pages, crisp and concise writing, and has a love of high school sports, athletes and coaches. Experience with InDesign, NewsEdit and PhotoShop is desired. Salary is competitive and we offer a full range of benefits, including health, vision, dental and retirement. You will join a dynamic and evolving newsroom of 12 that is committed to journalistic excellence while having some fun at the same time. We're undergoing a major redesign of the newspaper, so you'll have the opportunity to put your stamp on how the sports pages look and how sports are covered. You'll be located an hour's drive away from two major metropolitan areas in one of Oklahoma's fastest growing communities that offers a wide range of attractions, good schools and great people. Please send five samples of your writing and two samples of your page designs. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. This job is perfect for a sports reporter looking to move up or an editor who wants the freedom to do great sports journalism every day. CONTACT: Managing Editor Jeff Hall, 117 W. Broadway, Ardmore OK 73401; (580) 221-6505; jeffrey.hall@ardmoreite.com.

Ardmore is about 100 miles from both Dallas and OKC, but with the way people drive in Oklahoma I suppose an hour might be about right. ;)

That might be one of the worst names for a newspaper ever.
The paper's not in a bad spot. There isn't a ton there, but yes, you will be close to OKC and DFW. Granted, there's construction on both sides of Ardmore on I-35, so I'm guessing it might take a bit more than an hour.

Dang, the Ardmoreite was around 20K circulation about 10 years ago if I recall correctly.

More like 12-13K ... many changes at this paper within the last 12-18 months.

New publisher, ME ... I worked there as SE in 1997, so it's been a while, but if anyone wants to pick my brain about southern Oklahoma, feel free to message me.

Major plus (for some of us), also: Big casino on the Red River just a few miles south on I-35.
