    Do you get overtime for the 12-hour, 6 days a week?

    It's a smaller paper. In this day and age, there should be no expectation that the SE can or should be a manager/coach.

    Not when I was there. Not even the writers did ... it was a strict 40-hour shop for writers and deskers.

    It's significantly smaller today than it was during my tenure in the early 2000s. Even then, though, it was still noticeably short on newsroom bodies ... I can't imagine what it's like now.

    They're in a smaller building, so it's not as noticeable.

    I just left Bradenton after working there for nearly 10 years. Much smaller staff - news, sports, etc. - than when I got there in 2005, but it's like that all over. And reformedhack is correct - no OT, although Tim was very generous in giving you some comp time if you worked a six-day week or a an extra-long shift.
