    Description:

The Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel newspapers of central Maine seek an outstanding, accomplished sports editor to direct our award-winning sports sections. We need an editor to help plan for and shape compelling sports journalism for our newspapers and websites, from exceptional coverage of high school and college sports games, to in-depth profiles and features on people and trends. The sports editor must have a sense of urgency about breaking news and look for ways to tell stories with digital elements such as video, slideshows and databases, using social media to promote coverage visibility and interaction. You must be an excellent writer with a proven ability to work with reporters on story development and completion, holding staff to high standards while treating them with respect and professionalism. Also crucial is an ability to work with the sports copy desk to put out dynamic, well designed sections. Experience at a daily newspaper and as a page designer is a must. Send cover letter and resume to Scott Monroe, Managing Editor, at: smonroe@centralmaine.com. We are an EEO employer.
