    Appears we have a winner.
    From the Auburn thread:

David Ching is leaving to take the sports editor's job in Athens, Ga.

It was posted at the end of July. Nothing wrong with getting a good one early. We knew they had to move fast because John's last day is Sept. 1.
    Nothing wrong with it.

Ching? What is this, another one of these diversity hires???? ;)

Man, that never gets old. At least not to me. Ching is a great guy who will do good things there.

Always nice to see good things happen to good people.

With football season almost here, I don't think anybody can argue with Athens finding a qualified candidate and hiring him as soon as possible. You figure Ching probably has to put in a two-week notice and if he takes a few days to get moved and whatnot, he'll arrive in early September, a busy time for any paper. It's not like this gig came open in April and they had all the time in the world to fill it.

Is football a big deal in Athens? :D

Sort of. They got a small university there that fields an above-average team.

Gymnastics? I'm talking about the football team that's going to hang 50 on my beloved Gamecocks.

Yeah, the Georgia gymnastics team could do that, too.
