Do you LOVE sports? So do we!

Come join the Texas Press Association No. 1 Sports Coverage (Division 2) award-winning team in beautiful Kerrville, Texas.

Our profitable publication is a 106-year-old hometown daily newspaper dedicated first and foremost to community news and sports.

We have an immediate opening for a hands-on, experienced, creative and energetic Sports Editor.

The right candidate will be a person who understands how important it is to youths, their parents and the community that we enthusiastically cover the home teams in all local sports – from the collegiate shooting team to our county's high school football squads right on down to the youth soccer league.

In addition to establishing a good working relationship with area coaches and reporting on local games, the Sports Editor must also coordinate stringers and freelancers. He or she must be a good communicator and a courteous team member who is ready to pitch in to help the rest of the editorial team when needed on other projects.

Knowledge of many types of sports and AP news style, the ability to write, and proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop are required.

This is a great position, in a beautiful place with a super enthusiastic, young newsroom.

The full-time position includes benefits, including health insurance, vacation and sick leave. Hours naturally depend upon events to be covered. Send resume, references and work samples to Lisa Walter, managing editor, at: lisa.walter@dailytimes.com.
