The Curry Coastal Pilot, a twice-weekly, award-winning, community newspaper on the Southern Oregon Coast, is accepting applications for a full-time editor to oversee sports/outdoor coverage and coordinate digital content for our website and social media pages.

Pay is $13-$14 an hour depending on experience.

We seek an experienced, self-motivated professional to run our one-man sports department and cover high school sports and outdoor recreation such as fishing, hiking and windsurfing. The job requires occasional news and feature writing as well as taking photographs and designing one to two pages per issue. The editor will upload copy and photos to our website after each publication and as needed between issues.

The position requires regular afternoon and evening work, and occasional weekend assignments. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop and digital applications is a plus. Candidates from the western United States are preferred.

The positive, upbeat newsroom is filled with people practicing big city journalism for our appreciative, small-town readers. The surrounding beaches, rivers and national forests offer plenty of outdoor fun.

The Curry Coastal Pilot is the primary newspaper for the city of Brookings and surrounding Curry County (population 22,000).
