Our award-winning media operation in Brenham, deep in the heart of Texas, has an immediate opening for a sports enthusiast who has exceptional digital chops.

Our daily newspaper in the middle of bluebonnet country recently captured 10 APME awards and brought home second place in the Newspaper of the Year category.

Sports is king here, where we cover two high schools that are perennial state contenders in a myriad of sports, as well as a nationally-renown junior college.

The successful applicant will be expected to write game stories, previews and features, as well as providing strong insight and analysis on the teams in his or her beat. Part of your role will also be to continue the established footprint in our digital and video endeavors in the newsroom. Constant contribution and monitoring of social media for breaking news is a must. Ability to lay out sports section pages in InDesign will be part of your duties.

Previous newspaper experience is preferred, but not required. This position is ideal for high-achieving recent college graduates who are looking to be an integral part of our ever-improving operations.

Competitive salary and full benefits package available for the right person. Home to Blue Bell Ice Cream, Brenham is a thriving city with a ton of history. Living here ensures access to a bustling downtown, live music, a craft brewery and some of the best BBQ in the state.

Send resume, cover letter and links to published work to jay@brenhambanner.com.
