    Sports Desk West Hawaii Today, a growing a.m. daily on Hawaii Island, needs a good, experienced hand on the sports desk. The position demands strong layout/copy editing skills and sports writing experience. The right candidate will primarily craft clean, eye-catching pages that are edited tightly to AP style. This staffer must also be willing to compile short capsules when high school coaches phone in game results, work with agate and write briefs on upcoming events in the community. InDesign knowledge is a must, and Photoshop knowledge is a plus. We cover 16 high schools on Hawaii Island, and our major events are the Ford Ironman World Championship and the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, the Champions Tour’s season-opening event. Full-time hourly position with annual wages from $40,000 up, good benefits and a good working environment in Hawaii. Applications will be solicited until Dec. 20.     based on research from income comparison sites, if you make $32K a year in southeastern portion of country, if you take this job at 40K, your yearly disposable income would take a $10,000 hit. Just something to think about.
