As we mark our 1-year anniversary this week as a shared services desk, we have lost our first Sports designer (who got an offer to return home and be near family). The deadline in the ad says Aug. 15, but I wouldn't wait that long to apply. With football only weeks away, we're going to move quickly on this.

Designers with a demonstrated ability to design sports pages on tight deadline.
Visual journalists who take an explanatory approach to their work, melding text and visuals to help readers fully understand the story.

Requires a minimum of 3 years experience in newspaper design, preferably concentrating on sports.
Is on a sports-only copy desk serving major sports markets. Our desk serves The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Austin American-Statesman, The Palm Beach Post and the Dayton Daily News, plus some smaller newspapers.
Is located in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Requires a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend work
