Congrats. Welcome to the club. It happens, and as much as I hate to admit it, normally it's for a good reason.

Requirements you need to get it: Ask the folks at TWGDPIA.

    History: It's seen better days.

What kind of people work there: Some good, some bad. Some call the place TWGDPIA.

    The city: Ugh.

Well wait a minute. I need to defend Detroit here a bit.
Downtown can be fun, especially Greektown. And Canada is across the border, and Southeast Michigan is outstanding and 'Up North' is awesome year-round. It's a wonderful place to work and live.

That said, I'm enjoying Florida. But I had 40 years in Michigan. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Blue, you might need to work on your "defend Detroit" spiel a little. You've got one (IMO very valid) Detroit fact, then spread out into the surrounding area for support. Move to Detroit so you can visit Up North? Not a really strong argument.

How about the Tigers, Foxtown, Detroit's casinos, the riverfront and all that jazz?

BTW, is there any movement on this position? I know a couple who've applied.

When I think Detroit, I think Southeastern Michigan and the entire state. That was my point.
The dead man's zone area between downtown and 8 mile, as well as Downriver ... can't say anything good about that.

The one thing I can say about the News is the sports desk is full of great people. I know just about every one of them and I'm glad I do.

You're right. I only know a couple of the desk people, but they all are pretty good to know.
