    From jjobs.com:

    Description:
The News & Record is a 93,000-circ. daily that routinely beats papers twice our size for state press awards. Why? We are committed to enterprise reporting that makes a difference in our community. We are currently looking to fill several positions:

    · An entry level position in our High Point bureau. We’re looking for an aggressive reporter who can develop enterprise stories as well as cover a variety of breaking news. This is a great training ground and place to shine.

    · An experienced reporter for our main newsroom. We’re looking for a reporter who knows how to work a beat and write the stories that matter to readers. You’ll get time to develop enterprise stories and projects, and support to practice watchdog journalism.

    · A sports copy editor. We’re looking for an editor who can improve copy and can think visually. This position requires sharp editing and design skills.

The News & Record was named by Editor and Publisher last year as one of the 10 newspapers that “do it right.” We boast a newsroom that is collaborative, congenial and innovative. We take risks and we have fun. We write for readers and take our public service mission seriously.

If you’re interested, send a cover letter and resume by e-mail News & Record, Attn: Human Resources, 200 E. Market St., Greensboro, NC 27401. Or email employment@news-record.com.

    Wasn't this position just open?

  3. Ultra-nice gig. The paper doesn't have the top looks of the state's other two big papers, but this is a for real job at a for real paper.

Yes, a couple months back. Go ahead and apply but don't expect acknowledgement of your packet.

  5. Why, they expecting to promote from within? Or are they just too big-time?

I believe this is a different position.

From the N&R editor's blog, a hire was made last month for a position on the sports desk:

And another sports copy editor is leaving the paper:

Franticscribe has it right - these are two different jobs because we had two desk people leave at about the same time. (Both had spouses who took jobs out of town.)

We've filled the first opening and are still interviewing for the second.

So has the second position been filled yet?

Yep, we filled it and are at full staff (for the moment, anyway). Our new hire started Monday.
