From JournalismJobs.com. This is at a "competing" shop, but the Maine journalism community is pretty solid, and this is a good opportunity for someone who is inclined to love words and layouts.

JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Seeking Sports copy editor/ designer

The Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel daily newspapers seek a skilled copy editor and page designer, preferably with reporting experience, who can multi-task duties on a busy sports department desk. The person will help ensure copy for the sports pages of both papers and on centralmaine.com is fair and accurate, follows Associated Press style and is attractive to our audience. The successful candidate will also be able to produce polished sports pages — experience with InDesign and InCopy is a plus — and have a strong understanding of page design, including headline writing, hierarchy and photo display. Performing well under deadline, balancing priorities and communicating effectively with staff and others are essential skills. Other duties include some writing for web and print, including blog posts and occasional game stories and features, with a heavy focus on local high school sports. Please email a cover letter, resume and any relevant clips or page designs to Sports Editor Bill Stewart: bstewart@centralmaine.com
