    Prairie Mountain Publishing, the leading source of local news in the Boulder / Longmont / Loveland market seeks to fill a sports page design / copy editing position in Boulder, Colorado. This person is expected to produce compelling and innovative page designs for daily sports sections. Successful candidates must be versatile, organized, adaptable and possess strong copy editing skills with a focus on sports. You should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include:

    • Write headlines and edit stories.

    • Production of high quality, creative sports page designs while maintaining high standards of clarity and accuracy.

    • Create information graphics and maps through use of graphics software.

    • Communicate effectively with a variety of editors from other departments.

    • Assure that critical deadlines and page- and copy-flow requirements are met.


    Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism. Newsroom experience required, preferably as a page designer or copy editor. An indepth knowledge of sports will be needed to succeed in this position. We are looking for someone with strong editing skills, a solid understanding of AP style and a creative flair for headlines. You must possess excellent teamwork, interpersonal and customer-service skills as well as the ability to work under deadline pressure. Familiarity with graphic and desktop publishing software (such as Quark Xpress, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) needed. Work schedule includes evening and weekend hours and some holidays.
