      • This is your opportunity to grab one of the great sports writing jobs in America, in one of the nation's most dynamic sports and news towns. Leveraging your strong voice and expertise, you will develop opinion pieces to galvanize, engage and grow an audience across multiple platforms. You'll invest a good deal of time covering the New Orleans Saints and Hornets as well as the LSU Tigers, one of the nation's elite college football programs. The Big Easy also frequently hosts major national sporting events such as the 2013 Super Bowl, last year's Final Four, the Sugar Bowl, rotating BCS National Championship games, the Bayou Classic, the NBA All-Star Game and other nationally prominent sporting events.

We are looking for an experienced sports journalist and talented writer. This could be a great opportunity whether you are a columnist at a smaller organization looking to step up to a more vibrant, dynamic assignment, or a sports writer at a larger organization looking to become a columnist. Show us a strong voice and distinctive style, and we may have a match. In addition, to be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:

A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least three years of journalism experience with a proven ability in sports reporting and writing.
A demonstrated ability to build, maintain and engage an active audience for top-tier sports teams.
The ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately.
Demonstrated reporting, writing and organizational skills.
A solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
Experience with search engine optimization (SEO) practices.
Experience using social media to source and promote content is preferred.
