Always enjoy Burger. He never took sports too seriously.

Good for Burger if that's how he wants it. And the next bad word said about him will be the first.

And that certainly applies to golf.

I was fortunate enough to deal with Ken on a couple Charleston-area tournaments and enjoyed the experience. Along with Tommy Braswell and Gene Sapakoff, that's a class staff to read and to work with.

Burger is one of the best guys you'll ever run across. He will certainly be missed in media tents at golf tournaments around the region, assuming he doesn't find a way to be there.

A real treat to have met him, and to be able to keep reading him.

I won't even hold the quote about women's basketball against him.

His column on John Daly was one of the best I've ever read. Will be interesting to see him take on the other issues of the day. The readers of Charleston are lucky to have him at all, let alone four times a week.

Great, great guy. He probably doesn't remember - though I don't think we were drunk - but he offered me some very wise counsel once during a difficult stretch in my life.

Wow. Thanks for linking that. I'd never seen it. Truly a fantastic column. I'd never read Burger, but I might go dig up some of his old stuff if that's representative at all.

Ken is absolutely one of the nicest, funniest guys I've ever run across in the press box.

Here's Ken Burger's first column in the B section. He has a way with words.
