True. It would be nice if someone in Eugene could shed some light on this.

I would suggest looking at the RG's recent sports moves.

SE Ron Bellamy retires, and an in-house candidate is his successor.

Columnist (George Schroeder) and No. 2 Oregon fooball reporter (Adam Judd) leave. No. 2 UO football reporter "replaced" from in-house by a switch in a reporter's beats. Even if the No. 1 Oregon football reporter did NOT apply for columnist job -- and why wouldn't he? -- one could make a case that he would be drafted for the job (that is, another in-house shuffle to fill a vacancy).

    Pure speculation. I'm acknowledging that.

R-G has been doing interesting things this fall. Almost no coverage of Oregon State, which until last weekend was No. 7 and off to its best start in decades. In the past they had a beat writer covering the Beavs. The paper has an opening for a graphic artist, which was just reopened for a second time. Then the lack of news about the sports columnist position, meaning the position has been vacant as the Ducks stay unbeaten and getting national attention.

Adam Jude could honestly run the entire sports department. Not to mention the Ducks coverage will always outweigh the Beavs in Eugene.

That would be a mean feat, since he moved to The Oregonian about four months ago.

But I will agree, he is a talented guy, and nice to boot.

As my aunt used to say:

    Patience is a virtue
    Possess it if you can
    Seldom found in women
    And never in a man

Literally? Did someone kidnap the editor and hold him hostage in a meat locker?

Yeah moot point now but still being in Eugene he could if he was there. Great guy as well
