    Description:
The Standard-Examiner, located in the outdoor mecca of beautiful Ogden, Utah, is seeking a multimedia savvy editor to head up our Sports and Recreation Team. We need a versatile editor who is hands-on with pagination and design skills, as well as content editing, story development and scheduling. The Sports and Recreation Team is one of seven teams headed by editors in our newsroom and is responsible for producing high-quality local coverage of preps, college, outdoors and participatory sports. Our emphasis is on features and story-telling.

The initial duties of the editor are two-fold: First to develop, present and promote daily sports content online; and, second to set and design pages each night while working with a page designer.

Among the primary responsibilities of the sports editor:

-- Communicate with the staff of four reporters to manage and develop content each day for the daily Sports section and weekly Outdoors section.

-- Create and manage the Local Schedule and Sports Calendar for each day’s paper.

-- Assign photos for each event

-- Edit content (including staff articles, press releases and wire content)

    -- Build photo galleries

    -- Manage 12-15 correspondents

-- Build a daily budget of stories for each day

    -- Paginate

-- Manage website construction of sports content.

The editor should have experience with InDesign, InCopy and Photoshop, and the ability to learn new software and a new content management system.

Those interested in applying should send a cover letter, resume and work samples to Executive Editor Andy Howell at ahowell@standard.net.
