Tony Hendra certainly has the credentials to start a satirical site. Spinal Tap. National Lampoon editor. Spy editor-in-chief. He's now started The Final Edition, which he hopes will be like The Daily Show for the web.

It will also have celebrity contributions from Rachel Maddow, Mike Myers and others (I guess it will be like the Huffington Post for satire, although maybe their contributors will actually get paid at some point).

The first edition was a spoof of The Times, which I'm sure was a bit personal for Hendra - the paper first published accusations from Hendra's daughter that he molested her as a kid.

Hendra says they'll be doing edgier, more up to date things than The Onion. That I'm a bit skeptical about.

It looks like it could be an interesting site. But a rival to The Onion? No one challenges the king.

The main graphic was pretty impressive, but the writing was kinda silly, and not in a silly good way.
