You know, it didn't really register with me until you just pointed that out. It's almost like the first few episodes were designed to introduce you to all of the characters and gain a little insight into each one, and now they are devoting entire episodes to focusing on one or two, maybe three characters.

If I remeber correctly, that's similar to the pattern NYPD Blue followed.

 

Southland got picked up by NBC for the fall.

 

That's good news.

 

Southland might last a couple years, get a lot of critical acclaim, then disappear because of ratings.

You just can't make episode after episode full of wandering plots, smash cuts, shakycam stuff...ugh. It feels like a three-hour crime film stretched into 25 hours.

I really don't get the bleeped cursing either. Clearly, the show is not a documentary.

 

i get and accept the bleeped cursing ... but the shaky cam thing is too much for me to handle at times. i really do like the show, tho.
