    The movie in question? "Monster-In-Law"

Seeing as how the video store is no longer in business, this seems like malicious (and pretty stupid) prosecution to me ...

Is there no statute of limitations on petty theft?

SoL is satisfied once the warrant is issued.

Ah. I guess it pays to actually read the article.

Five years for what she did. The rest for trying to run.

  7. I know it's not technically the fault of the police here, but there needs to be some sanity exercised when deciding whether to arrest someone or just say, 'Hey, get this taken care of as soon as possible.'

I'm sure everything was done by the book here, but sometimes their should be freedom to bend the rules.

I would agree, but where would she send a fine or return the video (if she, in fact, still had it) if the business is no longer around?

Apparently the store contacted her several times via certified mail.

At least they didn't shoot her.

Just checking to make sure it wasn't my aunt. Nope.

Something she would have done, though. One of those, who, pre-9/11, tried to catch a flight and had forgotten she had a gun in her purse.

But she's more of a Netflix woman anyway. Carry on.

Will this woman spend more time in jail than the Affluenza kid?
