My 64-yr-old dad got an iPod nano for Christmas. At first he was afraid of it. Scared to hold it for fear he would break it. Didn't think he'd ever learn what the buttons did.

But now he can't imagine life without it. He loves the NPR podcasts. I helped him load a "workout" playlist for when he's on the treadmill.

I feel like a 64-year-old man whenever I try to use these new-fangled contraptions. :)

Pallister, how do you use a computer? These things are as easy as a cell phone. You have one of those, right? :D

Posting on here, sending e-mails and occasionally downloading music is the extent of my computer "use." You give me any newsroom operating system, I'll kicks its ass. But ask me to figure out something like gmail and I'm lost. I guess I'm a news desk savant.

I do have a cell phone, but it's dull. No photos or video.

But this did remind me, I procrastinated for three hours during finals last year by constructing something very similar I saw posted as a MySpace bulletin. I spent a lot of time to ensure every song fit perfectly. Then I realized I had too many good choices so I constructed three long albums. It was so good I saved it and even created the three playlists in iTunes.

Hey man, speak for yourself! My dad teaches high school, so he's down with Eminem and Lil' Rob and all that. I put together a playlist for him that had to include Tone Loc, Blondie and "Whoomp! There it is!"

Falling in Love: Stand Still Look Pretty, The Wreckers
Fight Song: For The Good Times, Kris Kristofferson
Breaking Up: You Talk Too Much, George Thorogood
Prom: Funny How Time Slips Away, B.B. King and Bobby "Blue" Bland
Life: Shake The Sugar Tree, Pam Tillis

That second-to-last one is kind of eerie.
