Either that or the other song that I'm partial to by him, "Let it Be Me":

And Z-Man, for the New Pornographers I feel like "My Rights Versus Yours" would have a better chance of being a big hit:

And a song that got a little play on the radio, but not enough in my opinion, "Goodnight, Goodnight" by Hot Hot Heat:

I feel out of place talking about indie music. My tastes are so mainstream it's ridiculous.

The one time I latched onto a song that I thought would be like my one indie song, the song then *exploded* onto the charts.

Two more songs I wish had been big hits: "Hello" by Evanescence and "Living Well Is The Best Revenge" by REM. I would have loved to have sung the latter at karaoke last night.

  3. Nice pull. I love Roger Clyne and this is definitely one of his catchier, more marketable songs. I'm surprised it wasn't a bigger hit.

The Hold Steady should be much bigger than they are. I'll go with "Stuck Between Stations" for this topic...

Ben Folds albums sell, but he never has "hits". "Landed" should have been one...

Thanks so much for posting this! I checked out Jupiter One thanks to your link, and now I'm going to the music store (quaint, I know) to see if I can get their album. Love what I'm hearing!

Great call on Muse and Butch Walker. Here's some more:

"Inside of Love" - Nada Surf (Yes, that Nada Surf. What a beautiful song)

"You Only Live Once" - The Strokes (Their best song in my opinion, but after the early decade retro rock fad waned)

"Last Day of Magic" - Kills (Dead sexy song)

"Ain't No Reason" - Brent Dennen (Not sure if the looks match the voice ... great song nonetheless)

"Girlshapedlovedrug" - Gomez (Just a solid, catchy pop song)

"You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" - Spoon (One of the bigger indie bands, but haven't totally hit the mainstream)

"Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken" - Camera Obscura (Very ABBAesque sound on this song)

"Carpetbaggers" - Jenny Lewis (She's popular, but I don't know how someone with her talent and looks isn't HUGE)

"I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend To Dance With You" - Black Kids ("Hurricane Jane" is a solid pick, too)

"Quiet Town" - Josh Rouse (Not the song I'd pick as a hit, but Rouse deserves a mention)

Wasn't "Brick" a pretty big hit?

    Bowling for Soup: 1985

I did hear this one the radio once. I don't think it was a hit. It's a great song. Video sucks.

I think he's talking about Folds' solo career.

(Shouldn't you be listening to "Chippin' Away" right about now? :D)

I'll echo PC's mention of The Gaslight Anthem. The '59 Sound is the best album I've heard in ages.

I'll add "Stranger In The House" by the Paybacks, a kick ass Detroit band I first heard on Little Steven's Underground Garage.

I am so impressed with you taking the time to find a truly obscure Night Ranger song that I will suppress the urge to a.) tell you to fuck off and b.) post one of their newer songs here. :D :D
