Well, these aren't songs that make me cry, but they're songs that immediately transport me to the summer they were out and the one I lost.
    "Name," Goo Goo Dolls
    "You Oughta Know," Alanis
Pretty much the whole of Wilco's "A.M."
The first Cash album with Rubin.

No history, but "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is just brutal. The pacing, the understatement, the crushing end. George Jones is a hall-of-famer for that song alone.

I'm sorry. That is Lightning Crashes. The song right before that one is called Iris.

I've never thought about it, but that's sort of confusing. Especially when they mention "pale blue colored iris" in Lightning Crashes.

    My apologies.

I'm wrong about the meaning, too, I just learned. It was written about a girl killed by a drunk driver and donating her organs to someone else.

Damn, I'm off my game. I'm usually pretty good with lyrics.

Lightning Crashes is one of my favorite songs - but Iris has one of the best intros to any songs ever...

The meaning of what song? Now I'm all confused.

Lightning Crashes is about a mother dying giving birth.

Not according to wiki. I thought it was, too.

Trapeze Swinger was the first song that came to mind when I saw the thread title - just amazing lyrics.

Also, I saw Radin perform "Winter" live and it was outstanding.

Wow. By the video, I'd have no idea. That's interesting thanks...

I thought the song was about somebody dying as someone else was giving birth. I apparently suck at song lyrics as well.

    Also:

Silent House by the Dixie Chicks. My grandpa had Alzheimer's. He died before it got as bad as the woman in the song, but I still tear up, even at the gym.

And great call by whoever said Hurt by Cash.
