There are a lot of us ex-journos-turned-teachers. Although public education isn't exactly the safest job in the world to be in right now, either. Thousands got laid off last week in my state, with more cuts likely to come.

Good for DeRogatis, who along with Greg Kot was always a must-read in Chicago's papers. Glad to see they'll still be yakking on "Sound Opinions," too.

Jim DeRogatis a great writer and editor, BTW ... fellow rock nerds should read the "Kill Your Idols" book he wrote/edited/compiled with his wife. The deconstruction of the "canon" of classic rock albums is hilarious reading.

Agreed, loved his deconstruction of Sgt. Pepper's.
