Yeah, I know. We had a recent thread. Couldn't find it and I'm kind of rushed. Pipeline delivered some news. Sports had three take buyouts. Jeff Shelman left sports and is now in Metro.

    Some sports stuff:

Jerry Zgoda is going to cover the Wolves.
Mike Rand who was doing page 2 stuff is going to be the preps editor. Page 2 died with space cuts.
The former preps editor, Roman Augustovicz, is going to cover Gophers hockey and women's hoops.
Dean Spiros, the former Gophers hockey writer, is going to cover preps.
It's unclear who is going to cover Gophers basketball.

Losing Shelman is a brutal hit. One of the best college writers around...

Ugh. Roman did a great job with preps there. Real pro. Remember reading him when I was a prep myself.

Absolutely right. I'll miss him on the Big Ten beat.

    Huge loss.

Any of the changes touching the Vikings beat? One can hope...

Why you hoping for a change on the Vikings beat?

    Oh, for purely selfish reasons.

That would be one more NFL gig open. Need to get some musical chairs going.

The comments about Jeff are right on. He's a great reporter and an even better person.

Any speculation behind the moves by Shelman and Spiros? Doesn't it seem odd to have a guy cover both hockey and women's basketball, as they both play weekend evenings?

Seifert might be headed for Milwaukee.
