Wendell Barnhouse (national colleges), John Miller (Texas A&M) and Heidi Pederson (high schools), all took the buyouts, along with a longtime part-time copy editor.

Terry Bigham (colleges/motorsports editor) was involuntarily separated from his job (they wanted to eliminate one additional sports management position after night/weekend editor John Henry was laid off in the surprise layoffs of April 2008).

Bigham was the manager with the least seniority and when no other managers took the buyout, he got it by default. He has some leads with local media relations/PR for a couple of area colleges.

No word on whether Sturbin or Hood have found other opportunities - it's possible that Hood would be returning on contract work after January 1st.

All part-time high school/agate jobs were eliminated as well.

Word is every employee that applied for the buyout was granted it - and that the newsroom exceeded to targeted number of 50 positions eliminated.

As far as newspaper hierarchy goes, sports editor Celeste Williams is now Managing Editor - Sports & Features, so expect to see more structural reshuffling in the sports department in the coming weeks.

Moddy/Webby, might be about time to nuke the jobs section.

So, I guess that is "good" news since no one will be involuntarily thrown out on their asses? How pathetic is this industry becoming when it is good news that enough people too buyouts that no one will lose jobs?
