I'm not so sure the powers that be care about enemies taking an American or two. It allows us to flex our war muscles. We love to flex our war muscles and geopolitical minds.

It's a game. Yes, that is a gross oversimplification. But it's just all a game. Let's not delude ourselves that it ain't.

"And in order to do this — it’s very important for folks to understand — if we got into a situation where we said, ‘Because of who has captured an American soldier on the battlefield, we will leave that person behind,’ we would be in a whole new era for the safety of our personnel and for the nature of our commitment to our men and women in uniform."

Crowley continued to press Rice.

"I think the question now is, and you point to the kinds of warfare we’re having now, but no longer can it be said that the U.S. doesn’t negotiate with terrorists," Crowley said.

Of course she should've just said "Yes, Candy, we negotiated with terrorists to bring Bowe Bergdahl home."

Reading some of these stories and seeing how Bergdahl adapted to his surroundings....I hope the government is watching him for a "Homeland"-type situation.
I'm sure it's a trillion-to-1 chance he has been flipped, but it would be life imitating art.
