Earth, but the game just went on and on. There were a ton of long at-bats and a small argument at the plate.

I have never seen a regulation softball game go more than a buck and a half.

wild and wacky.

If you haven't seen it, it's not just cheering. It's intricately choreographed cheering. It's like they hand out a 20-page pamphlet of team cheers at the start of the season. And it's a nationwide epidemic.

More "Gahhhs":

One girl: "you got a piece of it....but we want all of ittttttt."
Rest of Team chants same thing, in a circle in the round sort of way...

Ugh

Another one that makes me walk away and go cover the baseball game instead:

"R-B, R-B, R-B-I" (team echos)
"Sally wants an RBI"(team echos)
"R-B, R-B, R-B-OOOOO"(you get the drift)
"Sally wants to drive one home"

Shotgun to the head please...I make sure to thank the coach in front of his players for when they are a team that doesn't chant.

"Fiver, fiver, hit a line driverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"
(Fiver, fiver, hit a line driver!)
Fiver, fiver, hit it right by herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
(Fiver, fiver, hit it right by her!)

And the best one yet, to the Ole, Ole song, for a girl wearing 99.

"Nine-nine, nine-nine, nine-nine, nine-nine!" (Nine-nine!)
"Nine-nine, nine-nine, nine-nine, nine-nine!" (Nine-nine!)

The next girl's number: 9.

My number of brain cells left: 2 1/2.

And for my trouble, I took a two hop foul ball off the old rump roast tonight while attempting to take photos behind first base.

My softball pet peeve would be the stat keepers who don't know what a hit is. It's pretty hard to score just one run on 27 hits.

I rarely pay attention to these chants, but the one that made me laugh hardest (because I'm very immature) went like this for a hitter named Alexandria Butler...

(First Person screams): OH MY GOD I THINK I SEE

(REST OF TEAM SCREAMS): A BUTT!!!!!!

(First Person screams): OH MY GOD I THINK I SEE

(REST OF TEAM SCREAMS): A BUTT!!!!!!

She batted four times in the game. I giggled like a school girl each time. Both because it was surprising and because it was completely retarded.

I can top that. Covered a state championship game that went 20 innings. Four rain delays, lasted three days. Started on a Saturday afternoon and ended Monday. Final score: 1-0.

I just got done with a 12-inning 1-0 masterpiece that went 3 1/2 hours.

Guess what: I re-rack and get ready for Game 3 in about 12 hours.
