softball pet peeve

... when sports reporter folk refer to a softball pitcher as "throwing from the mound" or "improving her record to 10-3 from the mound" -- there is no mound in softball! it's a pitcher's circle ... thank you, carry on...

 

Damn .. I thought you were going to say "Singing and chanting in the dugout." I just want to yell at the teams - "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

 

If the game lasts 50 minutes, let them sing.

 

What softball are you watching? I was at a 2 1/2 hour doozy this past weekend.

How many innings? How many walks?

 

Easily solved by being a good writer. No need to waste words talking about a mound in a player's record since it's implied by mentioning an individual's wins and losses.

 

You know with that kind of snobby insistence, if you swapped out soccer for softball, you could be an intern I know...

 

It was a seven-inning game and it only had about five walks per side.

 

Wow.

Something had to make it that long. I don't think I ever covered one that went more than two hours.
