In this combo picture, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, with holes on his socks, is seen as he leaves from the Ottoman era Selimiye mosque in Edirne, western Turkey, Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007. Wolfowitz was in turkey for a-two-day official visit. (AP Photo/Nadir Alp/Anatolia)

Poor guy probably needs a raise. New socks are expensive.

Entering a mosque with holes in his socks is very insulting and for a banker that is just awful.

Perhaps he should cut those talons toenails.

He misunderstood the "holy day" concept.

That's my kinda banker. Gets his money out of something regardless of some wear and tear.

Technically, he should not wear those shoes with a suit, either. They are bluchers (open lacing rather than the flaps closed at the bottoms), which are an informal dress shoe, as opposed to a balmoral. I usually ignore this rule as I prefer bluchers and own only one pair of balmorals, but then I do not travel in as sophisticated company as Wolfowitz. The Europeans probably look at him like he's wearing Nikes with that suit.

Now I feel embarrassed to have worn pedestrian old bluchers to the BBWAA dinner. I hope nobody noticed.
