Australia is pretty safe, too.

Bermuda and the Bahamas? Sure.

Also, when is the last time somebody bombed Canada?

 

Antarctica has terrorist penguins, so they're disqualified.

 

New Zealand has black widow sheep seeking revenge.

 

Wouldn't get me on the other side of the pond for any amount right now.

 

Most of those places either have already hosted an Olympics recently or lack the infrastructure to do so. Sure, I could go out in the middle nowhere and probably be safe. But big events like an Olympics or World Cup are always going to draw crowds.

Maybe we should stage the Super Bowl in Green Bay because there aren't as many terrorists there as there are in New York.

 

Mark, the Olympics are always a terrorist target. But Sochi is within a half day drive of areas where locals have been at war with Russia and Russians since the 18th century. That's a little different.

 

If they pay the security well...no problem. But Russia is notorious for underpaying police and security officials. Bribes happen all the time. Also alcoholism in the ranks.

It's going to be shaky.

 

The problem here is you have Russian and Caucasus fighters eager to make their mark, converging on the same point.
The Olympics are prestigious grounds for terrorists as much as they are for athletes.

 

Are those the terrorists suspects or the curling team?

 

So the vaunted Russian security apparatus can't find a woman with a limp and one arm that can't bend?
