Soccer is here to stay- yes, that's what the Russians kept telling us about Communism.

The "most Americans care about" standard is something only the Super Bowl reaches.

I'm not even sure SB qualifies.

Only one-third of the nation watches it.

Would take about 60 million "I care about it but am not/cannot watch it" people to approach the "most Americans care about" level.

Dan Shaughnessy has published his quadrennial anti-soccer column.

How many shows are watched by more than one third of the nation?

The question was very specifically "cared about by most Americans." That's 50%+1, not 33%.

Then it's pretty much none. The Super Bowl is watched by some people who watch but don't really care that much about the sport.

I did notice there aren't as many "I Hate Soccer" trolls spouting off in various media this year. In fact, I don't think I've heard one rant yet on sports talk radio. Most of the haters are laying low or trying to change the subject to midseason MLB or LeBron-Carmelo.
