    Usually refers to No. of apperances for the International team

    something to do with international appearances. What does it mean when you play a half of soccer with one fewer man, yet still tie a team that is supposed to be greatly superior to your team? It means it's not a very good sport.

    Or it means that the team a man down played a hell of a match.

    It actually goes back to a tradition that for each appearance a player would make, he would receive a cap from his country's association, like this one David Beckham received for his 100th appearance for England earlier this year,
