Then, when the girls' father intervened, she punched him in the face.

And then when an off duty copy intervenes, she assaults him.

And THEN the husband tries to yank the cop off the wife.

Both husband & wife were charged.

Indeed. That's why I proceeded with the clicking.

 

It's not uncommon at the lower levels, simply because the parents don't understand the game and get more frustrated/angry. They haven't had enough experience as 'sports parents' to know the game and the expected behavior. Absolutely no excuse, but it's a factor.

 

Disappointing there were no photos of the women's mug shot or a reaction shot as she was being dragged off the field. I bet it would be priceless.

 

Seen the same thing in baseball. The parents were at each others' throats at lot more in 7-8 year old tournament games than later.

I think most came to get a little perspective (for a lot of them it was that their kid wasn't very good so no sense blowing your aorta).
