It seems like it takes forever for the shutter to close on mine and snap the photo from the time I hit the button.

 

Mine takes pictures incredibly fast. Seriously. I'm capturing photos of a fast-moving toddler, and they're rarely blurry. It must be your phone.

I just downloaded an app called Burst Mode that seems to do the trick - takes 24 photos in a second.

 

What kind of phone do you have?

My old blackberry's camera was shit, but that was 5 years ago. The Droid Incredible I had was OK, not great. My current iPhone camera is awesome.
