So THIS is HDTV?

    OK, to clarify:

Each TV is as wide as the dresser it's sittin on. I'm not good at guessing sizes, but I'd say the picture is as wide as my 27" TV at home, but there are a good 4-5 inches of black bar on either side since it's a widescreen. It's an LG TV.

Also, up in the "HD" channels, there are some that are back-to-back, some with the "HD" notation after them. I suppose, as I said in one of my earlier posts, that the color is a bit brighter on one. But there are no pores, no nothing. My male friends here, however, still rave about the "HD" broadcast and how everything's so sharp and how it has ruined their TV at home. Etc.

    I just don't see it.

  2. Here's a great story for you HDTV (porn) fans. Any other publication and it might be inappropriate but, hey, it's the New York Times. As for that razor burn - don't porn stars know you should shave with the grain.

I find that I watch sporting events I normally wouldn't watch (australian open matches at 3:30 a.m. on espn hd), simply because they're being broadcast in HD.

I'm not sure it's worth the expense (about two mortgage payments for me), but it's definitely a neat toy. I bought a big-ass samsung lcd and I absolutely love it, especially hooked up with surround sound and an hd dvr. I've never been one for bigtime technology and whatnot (previously, my most expensive TV came with the $250 rebate I got for joining AOL a few years ago), but the picture's phenomenal, IMO.

My middle-aged mom, who is not normally interested in the slightest in this type stuff, shoots the gender thing out of the water. she went and visited my brother and sister-in-law over the weekend and was so impressed by the Discovery Channel in HD that she's talking about she and dad going and getting an HDTV.

  5. I don't even know what that means ... so no. Not kidding.

Write-brained: to D_B is to repeat something that has already been posted.

That link was posted on Page 2.

    Try reading a thread.

No, Junkie, it means seeing something that was posted like 20 posts earlier ON THE SAME THREAD.

Let me know when you pass your class on quoting a post.

Saw a documentary on the evolution of Niagara Falls, in HD, on Discovery. The picture clarity was remarkable.

Oh, bullshit. People call d_bs all the time. I do it, and I'm "taking it out" on someone?

And maybe it's just that none of the HD channels are sports channels. Maybe I just don't see it on the amish chick that's on the HD educational channel. I don't know. But I couldn't see Adam Savage any clearer on Mythbusters than I ever have.

Junkie: you somehow managed to post your response both above and below the quote. Perhaps that's some special tactic you've learned. If so, congratulations.

  11. I gotcha. Thanks. I did read the thread ... well I scanned it, like I do all the threads because there's some really stupid crap posted on this board ... but in particular to see if someone else posted the link but I missed it ... no reason to get militant.

    Stupid crap? On this board?

You must have us confused with someone else.

And you're right. I'm sorry. It's been a very long day, and, well, I just thought HD porn was kind of nasty. I apologize.
