So, The Leftovers on HBO

I second your thoughts. I had high hopes for the show based on the previews and the "Making of" thing they had on a couple of weeks ago. But I didn't like it. I was let down. Everyone in the show seems like a bad caricature.

RonClements, I suspect your WTF moments were LOL moments for me. The tear rolling down the cheek in the choking scene, the entire plot with the congressmen visiting the Holy Wayne guy (oh, please take MY BURDEN away!), the police chief looking stupefied at the end dogs scene, and Liv Tyler's attacking the Remnant folks only to join up with them in her next scene. That all seemed like stuff out of a bad 99 cent self-published novel on Amazon, and not the work of the guy that gave us Election.

I'm going to give it tonight's episode and maybe one more. If it's still more of the same, I'm out.

... as for the smoking, the show is seizing the opportunity to fill the void left by 'mad men.'.. 8) ;) ;D

Last night wasn't quite as intense as the first episode, but I liked that they started to explain the Guilty Remnant a little better and made us understand what was happening at that ranch. Minor quibble: Wayne breaks Tom's phone and gives him a burner after the meetup at the rendezvous. Which is great, until you remember that Tom had an iPhone, and I don't think it's exactly easy to snap an iPhone in half, no matter how strong you are. Also, ew. What a weirdo.

Probably not alone in this, but anyone else think the guy with the black pick-up truck/dog slayer is akin to The Angel of Death personified?

I dunno, just throwing that out there.

This week's episode was pretty powerful. Reminded a bit of "Lost" in that it followed one character closely through the whole episode. Christopher Eccleston did a nice job as the preacher. I've liked him in other roles (mostly as villains), but I'm not sure I thought he was as good as he showed in this episode.

Like how they tied it all in at the end with his wife.

I will say this though, there is no way if I won that much at a casino that I would walk out of there without security.

Besides HBO 2 Go, anyone know where/how I can catch up? I had hoped HBO would air the second and third episodes, but haven't seen them yet.

I saw the third episode last night. It was fantastic. That was what the commercials promised. Combined with the episode and the promo for the rest of the season after the credits, I'll continue to watch. The first two episodes almost made me swear off the show.

Episodes 2 and 3 have been the better ones; 1 and 4 were not as strong.

This week's episode was lacking, but we now "Who" the anti-christ is or where it came from so to speak.
