So my parents never threw anything out

    This thread is making me feel better. My mom has trouble throwing out paper (not newspapers, though). You would think she'd learn, because she misplaces important papers all the time and then has to spend hours going through piles and bags and boxes where she stashes things when she has to make more room on her desk or when someone is coming over.

    When my dad was alive, he would secretly throw out random stuff and she was never the wiser (somehow he never threw out anything important). Now I've taken over.

    My dad seemed to save every nail that ever came his way. I've been slowly cleaning out our garage and basement and I have thrown out countless jars of rusty nails.
