You have to go to West Hollywood to find anything. Hollywood proper is just too touristy without a lot of restaurants save for fast food joints, and basically one bar (the Cat & Fiddle on Sunset, which is very nice, but well away from the Strip. Which was cool by me.)

Long Beach native here. Spend a day there, you won't go wrong. Belmont Shore is nice. Go play some pickup hoops at Horny Corner.

    Dodger Stadium.

    Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm.

    USC football game.

Bring your girl to Rodeo Drive. (not, not rodeo, but ro-DAYO).

    South Coast Plaza.

    Huntington Beach lifeguard station #5

Tommy's (gotta get a chili burger).

For fun, when you're in Long Beach, go to the Virginia Country Club. It's in north Long Beach. Go at night and scout out "Munchkinland." Yes, it's a real place and implies everything the title says.

But really, there's a million places to hit up in L.A., and after that about 10 million more.

A quick drive through Compton at night should be fun ... ;D

The first time's the worst time
Then you become so uncomfortably numb
That you can't hide the fake smile
Stare into space with a look on your face
That says: gotta get outta Los Angeles
    So blind I can't see
    Gotta get outta Los Angeles
    Gotta get Los Angeles
    Outta me

    Sober sober, send yourself over
I did it again last night
    I wasted a good conversation
    'bout music and God
On an outta work coked up, A&R guy

I love it I hate it
    I can't live without

Best known as the place Guns N' Roses (and others) got their starts, the Rainbow Bar & Grill is a classic "go-to" place on Sunset. Not too pretentioius (see above post) and still capable of pulling some good acts.

Get there early on a weeknight, sit out on the patio and watch the action on Sunset with several cold ones. You'll thank me later.

I just love that Cockdian is getting under Clubber's skin. For the first time, Club sounds like a parent.

Holy shit, I think that's where I was staying. Anyways, there was so much stuff to do over there. Rodeo was nice. I ended up meeting Bill Cartwright(former Bulls center and Michael Jordan's bitch and current New Jersey Nets assistant coach) and Nick Hogan(Hulk's son) on there. I went to Disney but I loved Universal Studios. At night, we walked around that area and found some nice spots to chill. I didn't like Venice Beach too much because it was filled with wannabee Jamaican potheads.
