Title-text with the comic: "News networks giving a greater voice to viewers because the social web is so popular are like a chef on the Titanic who, seeing the looming iceberg and fleeing customers, figures ice is the future and starts making snow cones."

This mentality had a strong foothold in the media long before the Internet gave birth to "social media."

Man-on-the-street reporting in print and on TV is used the same way that a drunk uses a light pole: For support rather than illumination.

Man-on-the-street was lazy journalism then, is lazy now and will continue to be lazy.
