Since I can't seem to land a job to save my life in this county of no jobs, I thinking of moving to SoCal for the summer, well to October anyway. Ideally, I'd love to be in Huntington or anywhere I can skate in a few mins and relax on the beach.

I've been in Breckenridge, CO for the last two years and I think a quick change is needed. I've already started applying to some jobs and houses out here and one place was in Valencia (to work that is). I have no clue how the area is or what's to be expected but I love surprises (most of the time).

My friend was going to go with me but has recently backed out, but I still want to get on this.

So, what say you SJ SoCal Nation?

Valencia isn't close to the beach, of course. And there are very few jobs out here right now.

But if you can find a decent one, I highly recommend it. Moving to SoCal was the best move of my life.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Yeah, I don't plan on living in Valencia, just maybe working if this job works out.

By the way, I'm not looking for anything serous. I want a job where I have the least amount of responsibility, a little fun and pay the bills. Think of this as a small getaway from Colorado where I just want to soak in the sun and relax until I go back to my other thing in November.

    Thanks !

Keep in mind, that if you move there, almost everyone lives in a different place from where they work. Commuting is a fact of life, so don't let it scare you if you find a place to live in one city and a job in another.

But Buck is obviously your best source here...and maybe Birdscribe

Feel free to drop me a note with any questions, as well. I've spent all 22 years in California and Palos Verdes is my second home.

I heard Colorado is 15 minutes from Tahoe.

Ha. Already lived in Truckee for a bit. Loved it.

I hear Tahoe is 15 minutes from anywhere.

Where the fuck have you been, man? Good to see you back.

Oh, by the way, I still listen to that piece of music you created a while back, "Bounced."

When it plays on my iPod and someone else is in the car, they always ask, "what the fuck is that?" And, I have to tell them about this 20 y/o Southern Cali interweb "friend" I have. I've gotten more than a few pedophile eyebrow raises over it.

It's expensive to live here and there aren't many jobs, but if you're not picky, you can probably make it work. If you can do the neatly groomed thing, you might be able to get something at Disneyland, which is freeway-close to Huntington Beach.

Valencia is probably a two-hour commute from Huntington, depending on the time of day. Could be even more than that at rush hour.
Disney has been laying off at every level of the company. My wife applied for what she referred to as "popcorn sweeper" paying $9.75/hour. Never got a callback. The high school kids have already snapped up the summer jobs.
Best bet might be food service, taking a job at Pollo Loco or being a waiter, or something like that.

    And don't forget porn.

Madhavok, can you grow a mustache in a 6-8 weeks time?
