OK, the collective advice of this board I hold in high regard.

I have made a video using Windows Movie Maker, and it's about 45 minutes long. It documents the first 14 months of Lil 93's life and will be used as a Mother's Day present for my wife and my own mother.

I would like some suggestions for background tracks, and right now I have...

David Gray - You're The World To Me
Talking Heads - Stay Up Late
Stevie Wonder - Isn't She Lovely

I can go with anything in the last 50 years, so the lines are open.

    Thanks ahead of time.

45 minutes? Day-um... I've done a family one for my mother and one for Ms. Slappy's brother on her niece and I get bored after 20 minutres.

Use Norah Jones -- Nearness of You and close with it.
Also consider Bryan Adams -- When You Love Some One.

We have taken over 2000 pictures of this girl so far, and with all the video taken, dropping them into the timeline was not that bad.

I am not going for voice overs or anything. It's pretty simple, but I know they will love it.

    Remember two things...
    1) When you score it, try to focus on all groups. My mom hated some of the music I used, but she wasn't going to like BonJovi. My brothers didn't like jazz, but my mother did. So piss everyone off.
    For that one, I used
The Last Rose of Summer -- Joanne Madden (soft, penny whistle, turn of the century, wistful)
The Christmas Song -- Stevie Wonder and India Arie
    You and Me -- Lifehouse
Peter Grant -- My first, my last, my everything (thought it was Buble)
Bon Jovi -- who says you can't go home
Norah Jones -- Nearness of you
and it was still 18 minutes...
Cutting down the pics are tough, but sometimes you've got to do it.

    2) Remember that you'll have to extend or shorten some of the dissolves between score. You're a better man than I am if you can get your score to fit to the second on just a guess.

    Simply Irrestistible -- Robert Plant.
There Goes My Life -- Kenny Chesney
All American Girl -- Carrie Underwood
It's Five O'Clock Somewhere -- Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett

    Upside Down - Jack Johnson

Joy of My Life - John Fogerty
59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) - Simon & Garfunkel (it's just a short, cute happy song)
Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) - Billy Joel (for any pictures you have of her sleeping)
If I Had a Daughter - Terri Hendrix
Forever Young - Bob Dylan acoustic from the Biograph box set (or Rod Stewart)
Have I Told You Lately - Van Morrison

Since you have a girl, John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" is out - unless you dub in the word "girl" everytime he says boy.

Stay away from "Baby, Baby" by Amy Grant. Too much glurge.

    Some suggestions:
    "She's So Beautiful" -- Noah
"My Little Girl" -- Tim McGraw
    "Precious Girl" -- Tori Amos

Shocked nobody's put "Baby Love" forth yet.

... and, as goofy as it sounds on the surface of it, really -- give it a listen: "Hey Beautiful (HIMYM theme song)'' -- the Solids.

Some solid, solid suggestions that I would have never thought of.

    Thanks and keep them coming.
