During a spirited round of 1 vs. 100 on Xbox Live the other night, the following question was featured:

"Which of the following sodas does NOT have caffeine in Canada?"

    Jolt, Coca-Cola or Mountain Dew

The answer was Mountain Dew. I did some minor research & saw that non-cola sodas are not allowed to have caffeine in Canada. However, some of the guys I was playing with said their Canadian friends called bullshit.

So I come to you, the smartest Canadians I know, to ask for clarification.

It is true. In the following link, you can see which products are permitted to contain caffeine:

Is this what socialism will look like?

    Canada clearly sucks. :D :)

Edit: And Australia for a similar reason.

@FDP: Canadian socialism is apparently a very snoozy thing.

Except that manufacturers get around the archaic rule by using guarana, which is considered a flavouring, not an additive.

    :p

So if it's not Mountain Dew, what sugary drink product is ex-TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMM! in Canada?

The amount of caffeine in Jolt should more than make up for the lack of it in Mountain Dew.

Which, by the way, I liked a lot better when it was associated with hillbillies. :D

Caffeine-free Mountain Dew actually tastes pretty good. Caffeine isn't exactly enhancing the flavor in the formula.

I am a big fan of Diet Mountain Dew, but I want the caffeine version, thank you!
