The Browns got a 7th rounder for Colt McCoy, and even that seemed like a lot.

Cousins is living off one good game against the Browns and a two point conversion against the Ravens. But that gets bolstered on the hopes and dreams of Redskins fans well aware they have no draft picks. Rookie contract or not, teams aren't going to overpay for a guy who is a "suspect" as much as he's a "prospect."

The Skins could probably trade Cousins for a pick equivalent (or a bit better) to the one they used to draft him, since on the balance of performance he has probably shown he is a passable backup QB with some potential to start in the right system.

Most QBs drafted in the 4th round or below probably never see significant action in the league. Most hang around three or four seasons and then get cut.

But unless the Skins really snooker somebody, they aren't going to pick up a fistful of picks. Matt Millen is out of the league.

But is dumping him for a 4th round pick a good move, given how bad RGIII was this year, how bad RG1 is as a backup every year and how bad the 'Skins are in drafting talent?

And, just like that, more proof that Shanny's gone bull goose loony:

I didn't see the Washington vs. Kansas City game, but Griffin looked reasonably healthy when the Skins played the Giants two weeks ago. I don't know if something has changed since then or how much this decision has to do with factors other than injury.

If the team really believed that Griffin wasn't healthy enough to be effective earlier in the year, then maybe they should have sat him. There is a certain amount of pain that goes with playing pro football. I'm an old school guy who can remember when guys played with broken legs, broken ribs, whatever and were hailed as heros. Now we see guys out a month with far lesser injuries.

Bottom line: if you can play, and the coaching staff thinks you can play effectively enough to help the team, then you play. That's what you are getting paid absurd amounts of money to do.
