If you were making the call, would you have put Blanton on the cover?

Possibly not. I also would declare a moratorium on using Ph to make puns.

I wonder if the team—or, more likely, the other four pitchers—said they would only cooperate with the photo shoot if Blanton was included.

All spring the other four pitchers have said if you want us as a group, include Blanton. They even shrewdly put him in the middle when they had their joint presser at the beginning of camp.

Phearsome Phoursome...accomplishes same thing (if you want the PH thing) without the ridiculous notion that Blanton belongs in that group. The only thing Phab Phive about Blanton is his ERA. He's the Phlabby Phifth. Ain't this phun.
Moot point, however. It's common for teams to call the shots on these types of photos regardless of who's shooting.

    I bet that's what happened.

They did the same thing with the Braves in 1993, but called it "Five Aces."

Can anyone name the guy at top left? (shout it out if you know)

    Gene Garber?
    Craig McMurtry?
    Freddie (Buddy) Solomon?
    Rick Mahler?

Seriously, though, the name Tommy Greene sticks out in my mind.

Nope. Greene was traded to the Phillies along with Dale Murphy in 1990.
