Interesting idea: Borders to publish a collection of SI's Aaron stories (the release calls them 'columns') from over the years, going all the way back to his early career.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Borders will put down "The Hammer" July 11! "The Hammer" is a collection of "Sports Illustrated" magazine columns that chronicle baseball great Hank Aaron's entire career from his beginnings as a skinny teenage cross-handed slugger to his quest to hit home run number 755. It will be available only in Borders and Waldenbooks stores nationwide retailing for $14.95.
    ...
Notable "Sports Illustrated" columnists featured in "The Hammer" include George Plimpton, Ron Fimrite and Mike Capuzzo. The book's introduction is written by columnist Tom Verducci.

Seems like it could be a cool idea for newspapers as well...a collection of great columns about a historical icon, especially if your columnists have also been icons over the years.

Just a thought, back to work.

  2. Does it come with a free football phone?
