Sinus Infections

I think there was a thread on this a while back.

Anyway, sinus problems run in my family and I've got them bad. I have a deviated septum, probably allergies (I'm to scared of needles to see) and I'm always stuffed up.

Aside from good nasal sprays (Flonaise(sp?) when I have a prescription) or pills (Sinutab, etc.), anyone have any NATURAL ways to beat this problem? Foods? Methods? (don't say blowing my nose)

It's been brutal this week. I'm never ever feeling under the weather, no sore throat, no cough, just no airways! Drives me nuts.

i used to suffer from terrible sinus headaches and congestion. got the deviated septum straightened out in '91 and haven't had any sinus issues since.

SoSueMe, I think it's from your wife pulling your balls one way (let's do Cali!) then another (uh, honey, I want New York.).

Tell me about it. I just want this wedding over with. Every minute of the day it's something else. Tonight, phone call at work, minister can't meet with us at the scheduled time next Saturday. Wants to make it Sunday. Uh, I don't care who you work for lady, I took Saturday off for this reason.

Anyway, back to my f'ed up nasal passages.

Swab some Vicks VapoRub on your nostrils periodically throughout the day. It's one of the greatest smells in the world, and it's an instant short-term sinus-clearer-upper.

That, and/or eat lots of chips and salsa.

Eat a small piece or two of raw horseradish root. Don't bother with the jarred horseradish, I'm talking the about the real thing from the produce aisle. Does a miracle number on the sinuses.

Before you go to bed, take a sudafed and a shot of nyquil. During the day, take daytime sudafed decongestant.

Can you sleep after taking a sudafed? The last time I took one, about 10 years ago, it made my heart beat so fast I was terrified.

Before you go to bed you tell the future Mrs. SoSueMe that you're making the decisions from here on out and that you're doing the Washington to LA trip. That'll clear the sinus problem up right away.

Yeah, I shy away from pills and drugs as much as I can. Although this http://www.flonase.com/ is the best I've ever used.

I like the Vick's VapoRub idea. I may try that.

Funny you mention that. We just decided: West Coast trip it is. Vancouver or Seattle as a starting point is yet to be determined. I'm planning it.
